Now anyone with the 4oD app installed on their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, or a supported Android device, can hit the new download button to watch it offline later on.
It's great news for anyone who wants to watch 4oD programmes on the go when a constant internet connection, required for streaming, is not always available. Until now, 4oD has only allowed streaming - on PCs and laptops, or via the mobile app. Sarah Rose, Channel 4's director of commercial and business development, said: "We're thrilled to unveil our eagerly-awaited free download service on 4oD, giving our viewers even more flexibility to watch our programmes wherever they are.
Only those who've registered for a free Channel 4 account will be able to see the 4oD download button, but anyone can register and it only takes a couple of minutes. You will need to be connected to the internet - and it has to be a Wi-Fi connection - until your programme has fully downloaded, and you will download channel 4 programmes to pc need sufficient storage space on whatever device you're using.
Once downloaded, viewers have up to seven days to watch their 4oD programme before it automatically expires and vanishes from their device.
